Who Vanted are
Vanted handcraft bespoke van conversions and modular conversion kits out of their Sydney workshop, from weekend camper builds to 4WD fit-outs and tradie setups. Their modular kits, including the ROVER and the CROSS, are designed to be fully removable, so the same van can move between work and adventure without a permanent rebuild.
When they went looking for a surface material that could handle life on the road and still look premium, they landed on LETO Bamboo.
Why Vanted chose bamboo
A van interior is a demanding environment. It heats up through the day and cools overnight, it vibrates on every trip, and weight is always at a premium. According to the Vanted team, that combination ruled out a lot of the usual options: standard hardwoods were too heavy, and other panel products either struggled with the conditions or needed extra finishing work to look the part.
LETO Bamboo gave them a different balance:
- Light for its strength. Bamboo's strength-to-weight ratio means lighter tables and surfaces, which matters when every kilogram affects payload and fuel use.
- Stable through the cycles. Vanted report builds running for over a year with no warping or movement in their bamboo surfaces, despite constant temperature swings and vibration.
- A finish straight off the sheet. The tight, consistent grain reads as premium without heavy sanding or added veneer work.
- Workshop friendly. It machines cleanly on the CNC and saw, holds edges, and takes fixings without splitting, with consistent colour and grain across sheets.
Where it ends up
In Vanted's builds, LETO Bamboo turns up as fold-down tables, bench surfaces, interior panel faces, and drawer and shelf fronts. It features as standard in their ROVER conversion kit and as a specification option on their custom builds.
